On 5 April 2004, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Gordon Brown, announced a grant to SHINE, from the Lehman Brothers Foundation, of $1 million over three years.

The grant is to be used to fund the set up and delivery of selected projects from SHINE’s replication programme in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

By working together with Lehman Brothers and their staff, and with schools and educational providers in the local area, SHINE intends to make a significant and very powerful impact on the educational achievements and aspirations for the children and young people of Tower Hamlets. We are delighted to be part of this exciting new partnership.
