The Story Project Bradford
Improving wellbeing and literacy through the magic of storytelling
The Story Project is a groundbreaking literacy and wellbeing initiative being introduced in primary schools across Bradford.
Launched in 2024 with a £600,000 investment from SHINE – made possible through the generosity of philanthropists – the three-year project empowers children to develop stronger communication skills and emotional literacy through the power of storytelling.
In its first phase, the initiative is already reaching over 2,000 pupils across 20 Bradford schools. It provides teachers with practical, accessible tools to enhance pupil wellbeing and foster emotional resilience. Plans are in place to expand the project to many more schools in the coming academic year.
SHINE recently visited Bowling Park Primary School to see the project in action and to hear firsthand from some of the children who are already experiencing its impact.
