12 August 2005: We are delighted to announce that David Beckham, the England captain, has chosen SHINE to be the partner charity for his new football academy.

The David Beckham Academy in London comprises two full size indoor pitches and an extensive pavilion featuring state of the art classrooms, dinner hall and changing rooms.

Among the programmes on offer is, during term time, a national schools programme inviting children to participate in a range of exciting activities and resources based on football skills, which also encourage healthy living schemes and a positive attitude to sport in general.

As partner charity, the David Beckham Academy will sponsor a range of SHINE’s educational programmes and children from some of these projects will also have the fantastic opportunity to attend the Academy!
